PRESS RELEASE - AILIA and TAUS Data Association Join Forces!
Gatineau, Quebec – November 20, 2009. The Association de l’industrie de la langue / Language Industry Association (AILIA) and the TAUS Data Association (TDA) are joining forces in the quest to make data for translation accessible to everyone. Today’s connected world of escalating volumes of information and multilingual communication is of vital interest to Canada, a country where bilingualism is a core part of its identity and where exports are key to economic well-being.
As the world leader in hosting multilingual translation memories and glossaries, TDA can provide vital solutions to what Canadian firms need to leverage data. As Canada’s language industry representative, AILIA can offer its members yet one more tool in their mission to deliver quality services to clients. TDA’s data is structured by industry domains and company indexes, and will give Canadian translation service providers access to well documented and transparent data.
“There is no doubt that the future of multilingual communication hinges upon leveraging technological know-how and that sharing, in one capacity or another, is an integral part of the equation for success in the future,” states Gonzalo Peralta, President of AILIA, adding “what has impressed me most about the TDA model is the transparency and the collaborative approach taken. We know exactly where the source data originates!”
For Jaap van der Meer, TDA Director, the collaboration with AILIA “gives us access to one of the most important and respected markets in the world. We are very excited about introducing the concept of combining the effectiveness of data and the profit of sharing.” As an introductory special, AILIA members who join TDA will receive a 15% discount on their next AILIA membership. Over the next few months, TDA and AILIA will host information sessions to introduce the value of the system to Canadian translation sector players. The first session will take place at AILIA’s Showcase 2009, on December 4, 2009, in Ottawa, Canada
