TAUS Data Association Roadmap Consultation

From supercloud to industry operating system

Two years ago forty companies founded the TAUS Data Association to share language data in a secure and neutral framework. The platform went live last summer and membership has grown to sixty-five organizations and many more professional translators.

Prior to the Association’s launch TAUS consulted with over two-hundred organizations and individuals across industry-sectors. From 28 April to 12 May 2010, we conducted a major public consultation to help prioritize and guide future developments, which aim to get the most out of shared language data and make translation easier, better and faster for everyone.

Roadmap Consultation

The proposed developments were wide-reaching and have significant implications for how the industry conducts business. We received 680 usable responses to the consultation questionnaire and a wealth of new ideas on further new features and services. Responses came from every stakeholder group in the industry: translators, corporate buyers, public sector buyers, service providers, technology vendors, academia, and consultants / sector analysts / commentators.

A very large majority recognize the benefits of sharing translation memories. There was a strong endorsement of plans to provide users and members with more intelligent and easier access to data through translation matching and open APIs for services. View the presentation below to see how people voted, what has been prioritized, and when new services will be delivered.

The survey is now closed.
